Congratulations to our team, who demonstrated great team work and science investigation skills in the HEC Science Challenge.

Eleven schools competed in the Hills Education Community Science Challenge this week, once again hosted and organised by SVPS. The teams were inspired by the Science Week theme of Deep Blue: Innovations for the Future of Our Oceans with the focus on the real-world disaster unfolding in Mauritius where a ship ran aground and leaked 1000 tonnes of fuel oil into the ocean. Teams were challenged to explore the properties of oil, test materials to clean up a simulated oil spill and to compete to clean up as much ‘dirty’ oil as possible from a pristine ocean environment. Glen Forrest took out the challenge. Huge thanks to Bendigo Bank Mundaring for once again sponsoring the event.
