The children in Room 2 have been busy designing their own boats and lighthouses:

After listening to the story of “Who Sank the Boat” by Pamela Allen the children thought about what a boat would need to be able to float and what would be the best materials to use. They drew a labelled diagram of their boat and then made it. After this they tested their boats and reflected on how successful their boat was and if they would change anything next time.

The children listened to the “Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch” by Ronda and David Armitage. They suggested items that a lighthouse needed and we made a class list. Each child drew a design and chose from lego, blocks or recycled boxes and containers to make their lighthouse from.

We have had a wonderful Book Week and have enjoyed exploring many texts as we develop literacy through literature!
