The Sawyers Valley team working on their Lunar Lander.

Launching the Lunar Landers.

Destination Moon was the topic for the Hills Education Community Science Challenge hosted by Sawyers Valley Primary School this week. Students from ten primary schools had to work collaboratively, problem solve and use critical and creative thinking as they undertook four rigorous  tasks, including investigating the physics of rockets using models and designing a Lunar Lander to protect two marshmallow astronauts.

Congratulations to all the students who competed, especially the winning team from Glen Forrest Primary School. We are very proud of the SVPS team – Keaton, Harmony and Oliver. They demonstrated excellent science inquiry skills and were only a couple of points behind the winning teams.

Thank you to Bendigo Bank, Mundaring for sponsoring the event.
