Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to school and to Term 3. I hope that you all had an enjoyable holiday break with your children.

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Fiona Collopy and it is my pleasure to have been appointed substantive principal of Sawyers Valley Primary School. I am an experienced primary school principal having worked most recently at Gooseberry Hill Primary School in 2015 and from 2009-14 at East Narrogin Primary School, both Independent Public Schools. Prior to that I was principal at Avonvale Primary School in Northam from 2007.

I am very pleased to now be working in a school that is much closer to my home in Northam and one with such evident community spirit.

I have been gradually finding out more about the Sawyers Valley school community and I must say that I am extremely impressed with the level of parent support and commitment to your children’s learning. Although I have only been here at the school for three days I have taken great delight in walking around the school and into classrooms at the start of each day meeting as many people as I can. It has been heartening to see the evident pride in the school and the community support programs in place. There is something very special about schools in the Perth Hills area and Sawyers Valley Primary School is the jewel in the crown!

Please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself to me if you see me around the school. I am working hard to get to know the names of all students and staff. I look forward to meeting many more people over the coming weeks and I am greatly excited about being involved in this vibrant school community.

I would like to wholeheartedly thank Mr David Sawers for his leadership of Sawyers Valley Primary School over the last year and a bit. I wish him all the very best for his return as Associate Principal of Gingin District High School.

Kind regards

Fiona Collopy
Principal
